デルタおよびオミクロン The highly transmissible delta and omicron SARS-CoV-2 variants は，妊娠女性にとって，他の変異株に比べそれぞれ 3 および 10 倍感染率が高く，ほとんどがワクチンを接種していない母児の感染であったと，24日の JAMA で報告された。University of Texas researchers が，ダラスの保健システム a Dallas healthcare system 上の COVID-19 と診断された妊娠女性の転帰を調査した。研究期間は，デルタ流行前 the pre-delta period (17 May 2020-26 Jun 2021), デルタ流行中 (27 Jun-11 Dec 2021), およびオミクロン流行中 (12 Dec 2021-29 Jan 2022) にわたっており，（この間の）2020年12月にワクチン COVID-19 vaccines が接種可能となっている。合計 2641人が妊娠中の感染 maternal COVID-19 infections と診断され，各期では 1298 pre-delta (median per week, 17), 431 in the delta period (14), and 912 during omicron (138) であった。デルタ流行前に初回接種を完了していたのは 2人（0.15%) で，49 (11.4%) and 256 (28.1%) はそれぞれ，デルタとオミクロン流行期間中に接種を完了していた。症状の程度として 112 (4.2%) が重症 severe or critical, including 53 (4.1%) before delta (0 vaccinated), 51 (11.8%) amid delta (2 vaccinated), and 8 (0.9%) during omicron だった。the pre-delta period と比べ，the delta and omicron eras はより母親の感染者数増加に関連していた (incidence rate ratios, 3.07 and 10.09, respectively)。デルタ株感染は，より重症化 greater illness severity (odds ratio [OR] 2.93) に関連し，一方 adjustment for vaccination ワクチン接種の影響を調整後，オミクロン株感染は milder infections (OR 0.20) と関連していた。1919人の新生児のうちの 1015人に COVID-19 検査が行われ，32人 (3.1%) が検査で陽性となった (pre-delta 13; delta 8; omicron 11) 。重症例はなく，感染率は全期間同じだった。29人 (90.6%) の母親は軽症例で，感染のあった児のうち 18 of 20 (90%) はワクチン接種が可能となった 2020年12月以降にワクチンを接種しなかった母親から生まれた。

4月開催の the European Congress of Clinical Microbiology & Infectious Diseases (ECCMID) meeting in Portugal で発表予定の演題で，異なる変異株 variants of COVID-19 によって，long COVID 発症患者に異なる症状 different symptoms が認められることが示唆されている。 the University of Florence and Careggi University Hospital in Italy 大学が，428 COVID-19 case-patients の転帰をもとに報告した。the delta and omicron variants 登場以前の the alpha variant が優位であった from June 2020 to July 2021 の患者が対象となった。フォローアップ期間中に 76人が 1つ以上の持続する症状を訴え，息切れ (37%) と慢性の疲労感 (36%) 睡眠障害 (16%), 視覚の問題 (13%), そして brain fog (13%) であった。女性は男性より 2倍 long COVID を発症しやすく，免疫抑制剤服用者の発症の可能性は 6倍高かった。また，アルファ株感染患者と the original, wild-type strain 感染の患者との比較で，long COVID symptoms の違いが指摘されている。筋肉痛，不眠，brain fog，不安とうつは，アルファ株感染者で優位に増加した一方，嗅覚消失，味覚障害，聴覚障害は少なかった。
