サル痘ゲノム配列 the 1st MPXV outbreak genome sequences の迅速な再構築と系統発生遺伝学的特徴の解明 the rapid reconstruction and phylogenomic characterization を可能とする，ショットガン・メタゲノミクス shotgun metagenomics により，今回のウイルスが clade 3 に属し，アウトブレイクは単一の起源を持つ可能性が示された。2022 MPXV (lineage B.1) は，エンデミックである 1か国に関連する 2018-2019 cases と同じグループに分類されている clustered with が，多様な系統発生樹に分かれている segregates in a divergent phylogenetic branch ことから，継続し加速化された進化が反映されている可能性がある。徹底した変異解析から，ウイルス進化における the action of host APOBEC3 と同時に，微小進化 ongoing microevolution 上のヒトへの馴化の可能性の兆候 signs of potential MPXV human adaptation が示された。またゲノム配列解析が，進化が緩徐であるとされる this presumably slow-evolving dsDNA virus の感染拡大と伝播を追跡するための解決策に資する可能性が示唆された。
