2023年5月5日、フランスからエンテロウイルス Enterovirus (Echovirus-11 (E-11)) が関連する重症新生児敗血症例の増加が報告された。合計9例の肝障害と多臓器不全を伴う新生児敗血症例 cases of neonatal sepsis with hepatic impairment and multi-organ failure が between [July 2022] and [April 2023] の期間に 4病院 hospitals in 3 regions of France から報告されている。5月5日時点で7 cases が死亡し、2例が新生児室 neonatal unit に入院中である。発生数および重症度の増加は、フランスでこれまで確認されたことがない a recombinant lineage of E-11 が関係し、きわめて急速に悪化し感染児の致死率が高い点で通常とは異なる unusual と考えられている ...
Description of the cases
... 9例のうち8例が早期産児（妊娠38週 [37 ?] より早い出産）で、4組の双胎児が感染し新生児期後期（出生後1週間から3ヶ月）敗血症 late-onset neonatal sepsis を発症した。2022年7月から2023年4月の間に、3つの地域 regions にある4病院から報告された。9例のうち、6例が2022年（7月、10月、12月に各2例）、3例が2023年（1月に1例、4月に2例）にそれぞれ報告された。
全症例が出産後7日未満に1つ以上の臨床症状が認められていることから、母児感染経路が疑われている。きわめて急速に悪化し致死率が高い臨床経過は非典型的と考えられている。5月5日の時点で7例が死亡し、2例は現在も新生児室に入院中であるが、短期的予後については不安視されていない no longer threatened。
9例の血液、口腔スワブ throat swabs、鼻咽頭スワブ nasopharyngeal swabs、髄液、死後剖検検体について、エンテロウイルス PCR 検査 Enterovirus reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) testing が行われ、the presence of enterovirus, typed as Echovirus-11 (E-11) が確認された。5人の母親のうち、4人の血液検体の解析で母体の E-11 感染が確認された。検査を受けた母親はすべて、出産前3日以内に胃腸炎症状または発熱の症状が認められていた。2022年のエンテロウイルス解析 Sequence analyses of all typed Enterovirus infections in 2022 で、少なくとも2系統 lineages of recombinant origin の感染循環が認められており、このうち優位であった系統は、これら9例にも、non-neonatal or non-severe neonatal infections にも関連していた。
過去のデータ historical data from 2016 to 2021 では、E-11 represented 6.2% (3 of 48) of reported severe neonatal infections with known Enterovirus type while this proportion increased to 55% (11 of 20) in 2022.

25日、米領サモアにおける麻疹に関する緊急事態宣言が6月8日までさらに2週間延長された。2 laboratory-confirmed measles cases and 74 probable cases が確認されている。初めての麻疹感染が確認されてから、2900人以上に mumps, measles, and rubella (MMR) vaccinations ワクチンが接種された。最後に確認された症例が4月10日であることから、the red alert から a blue alert に変更された。
