新たに2名が、テキサス州 Brownsville [Texas, USA] と国境を挟んだメキシコの都市 Matamoros, the Mexican city で外科的処置を受けたあとの真菌性髄膜炎 fungal meningitis で死亡した。保健当局 The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) は、複数の国における髄膜炎アウトブレイクによる死者が4名となったと明らかにした。

Select key findings

　- Elevated levels of Beta-d-glucan, a biomarker of fungal infection（真菌感染症のバイオマーカー）, have been detected in the CSF of some US patients.

　- Three US laboratories (CDC Mycotic Diseases Branch's Laboratory, UCSF Clinical Microbiology Laboratory, and UW Medicine Molecular Microbiology Laboratory) and the Mexican national laboratory (InDRE) have detected fungal signals consistent with the _Fusarium solani_ species complex from the CSF of patients receiving care in Mexico or the United States.

Continuing investigations

[Mod.ML－ the latest CDC update によれば、as of 14 Jun 2023, there are in the United States 172 people under investigation for meningitis following epidural anesthesia in Matamoros, Tamaulipas, Mexico between 1 Jan and 13 May 2023 at 2 clinics (River Side Surgical Center and Clinica K-3), which were closed on 13 May 2023.

米国内で現在合計34 cases: 18 suspected cases, 10 probable cases, 6 confirmed cases (that is, "fungus could be detected"), and 4 deaths (2 probable cases and 2 confirmed cases); _Fusarium solani_ species complex has been detected in the CSF of patients receiving care in Mexico and the United States.

メキシコ国内では14 cases in Mexico - 4, "suspected" cases, with symptoms consistent with meningitis, 5 "probable" cases, with abnormal cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) analyses, and 5 confirmed cases by the presence of the fungus _Fusarium solani_.

As of 10 May 2023, a meningitis outbreak in Durango, Mexico has involved 80例（Mexican residents, including 39 deaths 死亡）。
