アフガニスタンのアウトブレイク続報 a follow-up on the Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever (CCHF) outbreak in Afghanistan の中で、the World Health Organization が新たに2例の確定例 new lab confirmed cases of CCHF, including one death in Kabul during the week ending 10 Jun 2023 について報告した。これらを含めた年初以来の合計は111例となり、死者数は6 cases from 13 provinces となった。過去2ヶ月間にもっとも多く感染が報告されたのは south (Kandahar) and north (Jawzjan and Balkh) provinces であった

致死的な髄膜炎菌性疾患の患者数が増加しており、海外の多くが比較的まれな群 a "relatively rare" overseas strain 、もしくはニュージーランドで in the 1990s and 2000s の流行の原因となった菌によるものである。

A total of 72 cases of meningococcal were detected in 2022 ...

Of the 51 cases for which a "type" could be identified in 2022, 82% were found to be type B.

Of type B cases, 28 were caused by one of 2 strains of the disease: P1.7-12,14 and P1.7-2,4.

P1.7-12,14 is "relatively rare" internationally, ESR's annual report noted. P1.7-2,4 is known as the "New Zealand epidemic" strain. It was responsible for 6128 infections and 252 deaths people between 1991 and 2007. ESR's annual report said one of last year's [2022] fatalities was caused by the New Zealand epidemic strain. The group and strain were not determined for the 2 other deaths.

This year [2023], 11 cases have been identified as type B. Four of those were found to be caused by P1.7-12,14 and 4 by P1.7-2,4.

Abstract

We characterized the epidemiology, host-pathogen characteristics, and outcomes of severe adult pulmonary _Streptococcus pyogenes_ infections that coincided with a high community caseload in central Scotland, UK.

The pulmonary infections had high illness and death rates and were associated with socioeconomic deprivation, influenza A co-infection, and the M1UK lineage of _S. pyogenes_.
