the Behsud district of Afghanistan's Nangarhar province において新たにポリオ感染例1例 a new polio case が確認されたと、公衆衛生当局 Taliban's Ministry of Public Health が1日明らかにした。2023年の国内のポリオ感染患者数が4例となった。新たに感染が確認されたのは、2023年5月16日に発症した生後48ヶ月の男児であった。

野生株1型ポリオウイルスによるアフガニスタンの4歳のポリオ感染児は、規定どおり3回の経口2価ワクチン doses of bivalent OPV (bOPV containing vaccine virus types 1 and 3) による接種を完了し、さらにワクチン接種キャンペーンで少なくとも3回以上追加接種されていた。家族が偽っているのではないと思われ、熱帯および亜熱帯各国のきわめて効果が低いワクチン a vaccine with extremely low vaccine efficacy の接種を受けていたが、免疫は獲得されていなかった not "immunised"。インド北部において、経口3価ポリオワクチンによる1型ポリオウイルスに対する抗体陽転化率 per-dose response は1回あたりわずか10-12%であり (New strategies for the elimination of polio from India. Science 2006; 314: 1150-1153)、この割合で7回接種した結果（の陽転率）は48-50% [?] となり、半数の小児が野生株1型ポリオウイルスに対し守られない。現行の経口2価ワクチンは免疫原性が改善した better immunogenicity が、7回接種したとしてもすべての小児に免疫が付与されるには不十分である。

CDC warns of potentially fatal bacterial illness on US Gulf Coast

Binduri anthrax outbreak: one dead, 11 others infected

the Binduri District  of the Upper East Region において、炭疽感染があったとみられるウシ a dead anthrax-infected cow の肉を摂取した1人が死亡し、炭疽感染 a suspected case of anthrax による死亡とみられている。6月2日の保健当局 the regional health directorate of the Ghana Health Service の声明の中で、2 suspected cases of anthrax with one death in the Binduri District の報告があったと明らかにされている。コミュニティ内で4頭のウシが死亡し11 suspected cases が確認されていると述べられている。
