セルビア国内で24人がウエストナイルウイルス感染症 West Nile fever を発症していると、公衆衛生研究所 the Institute for Public Health "Milan Jovanović Batut" から発表された。患者が発生したのは、the territories of Juznobački, Zapadnobački, Severnobački, Severnobanatski, Južnobanatski, Sremski, Srednjobanatski, Kolubarski, Nišavski district and Belgrade の各地域で、1人はドイツからの旅行者であった。男性が中心で平均年齢は63歳であり、糖尿病や高血圧症など何らかの持病を有する患者が多い。確認された症例の多くは、some form of neuroinvasive form of the disease -- meningitis or encephalitis の病型で、入院し治療を受けている。
