Popich village, Chong Dong commune, Baray district, Kampong Thom province において、7歳女児のジカウイルス感染が確認された。9月18日に Baray Santuk Referral Hospital 救急室に入院となった。9月18日に発症した際の症状は、高熱、嘔吐、下痢であった。治療により嘔吐は改善し、デング熱迅速検査は陰性だった。
9月19日に採取され同20日に the Pasteur Institute に送付された検体の検査の結果、ジカウイルス陽性であることが21日に発表された。

主に日中に吸血行動するヤブ蚊属 _Aedes_ mosquitoes が伝播し、感染しても多くの場合無症状である。症状が見られる場合は、発疹、発熱、関節痛、筋肉痛、頭痛を認め、2－7日間持続する。妊娠中の感染により小頭症などの奇形の原因となることがあるほか、早産や流産となることもある ...
