20人以上の乳幼児が感染したセレウス菌感染症アウトブレイク a _Bacillus cereus_ outbreak は，当局 Norwegian officials により解決した。2023年11月から2024年1月にかけて，かゆ a type of porridge を食べた５から6か月の乳児数名が発症した。
Tveter Gård Foredling は2024年1月に，小児用の複数の商品 several Den Sorte Havre branded products を回収した。全国の Meny stores で販売されていた。この措置の後，新たな症例は報告されていない。
食品安全当局 The Norwegian Food Safety Authority (Mattilsynet) には，products from Den Sorte Havre を摂取し体調を崩し嘔吐した小児についての23件の報告があった。
患児の自宅にあった製品の検体で行った検査の結果，セレウス菌 _Bacillus cereus_ が産生するトキシンが検出された。複数の検体に，小児が発症するのに十分な量のトキシンが含まれていた。問題の製品の共通する成分は，black oats from the same raw material batch だった。
"This outbreak is unusual。 何がこどもたちの病気の原因かは分かったが，なぜこの食品が原因となったのかを明らかにしなければならなかった。通常はその逆で; 病原菌で汚染された食品を探す," と senior researcher in food safety at the Veterinary Institute が述べた

Description of the Situation
On 30 Jan 2024, the IHR NFP of Uruguay notified the Pan American Health Organization/World Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) of a confirmed human case of WEE.
[Mod.TY－ のちに，現在 Montevideo と the neighboring department of San Jose の2例 WEE human cases が確定診断され; the follow-up of 15 cases under suspicion in the departments of Canelones, Montevideo, Paysandu, Rio Negro, Rocha, San Jose and Soriano がいるとされている (20240208.8714732)]
この患者の発症日は2024年1月はじめで，頭痛，発熱，光線過敏，嘔吐の症状を訴えていた。その後，意識状態が悪化し，画像診断で脳炎の所見があり，数日間の集中治療が必要となった。現在，患者は回復・退院している。
経過中，プロトコールに従い the National Laboratory of the Ministry of Health of Uruguay において脳脊髄液を解析した。当初 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) 検査は陰性であったが，その後も複数回の腰椎穿刺が必要な状態となり，1月30日に抗 WEE 特異的 IgM 抗体が陽性となった。
疫学的背景として，患者の居住地は a rural area in a department of the country with known WEE viral circulation であった; this department は国内でも最も多くウマの感染が確認されている地域である。患者には，ウマとの直接の接触はなかったことが確認されている。
