Officials in Catalonia initially informed AESAN through the Coordinated System for the Rapid Exchange of Information (SCIRI) of the presence of _Salmonella [enterica_ serotype] Enteritidis in soft cheese made with raw sheep's milk from the Casa Mateu brand. The affected 400-gram cheese was distributed in Valencia and Catalonia. Authorities advised people who had the product referred to in the alert not to consume it.
The 400-gram product implicated has the name Trevol on the label. The lot number is 140524, and the best-before date is 31 Dec 2024.

Parasite cases continue to climb in Wake County with no definite source identified

Increase in flea-borne Typhus identified in McKinney
ノミ媒介性チフスの患者 cases of flea-borne typhus, also known as "murine" or "endemic" がテキサス州 McKinney, Texas で増加している。
感染性ノミとの接触により感染するが、ノミは、感染のあるネズミ、ネコ、オポッサムなどの動物の刺咬時に感染する。ノミの刺咬によりヒトまたは動物は皮膚に傷ができる。餌を食べるときに flea dirt ともよばれる糞をするが、この中に菌が含まれており、創部などにすり込まれ感染が成立する。しかし、1-2週間前のノミの刺咬に気づいている患者は5％未満である。ヒトはまた、infected flea dirt を吸い込んだり、目の中にすり込んだりする。ヒト－ヒト感染はない。患者は発熱、頭痛、悪寒、筋肉痛、食欲不振、倦怠感、発疹、嘔気、嘔吐などの非特異的症状を訴える。適切な抗生物質による治療が行われれば、ほぼすべての患者らが完治するが、不適切に治療された場合には入院が必要となることがある。
[Mod.ML/LL－ 米国内でほとんどの症例 most cases of murine typhus が Texas, California, and Hawaii で発生しており、毎年約300例であるが、全米で報告義務があるわけではない not nationally reportable。
Murine typhus, also called endemic typhus の原因菌はリケッチア the bacteria _Rickettsia typhi_ and _Rickettsia felis_ であり、ラットが主要な保有動物 the primary animal reservoir for murine typhus となっている; しかしながら、イヌネコやオポッサム free-ranging cats, dogs, and opossums などの動物とそのノミも、rats and rat fleas がいない地域でも、この微生物を保持している (Flea-borne rickettsioses: ecologic considerations. Emerg Infect Dis. 1997;3(3):319-327;)。
ヒトの感染は通常、infected flea feces の、ノミの刺咬部位への接種、吸入、嚥下でおこる。症状として、発熱、頭痛、悪寒、嘔吐、嘔気、筋肉痛、発疹がみられる。治療が行われなかったとしても、3週間以内に治癒する。しかし、一部の患者が集中治療室への入院が必要となるほど重症化し、最大4％の入院患者が感染により死亡する。治療薬はドキシサイクリン doxycycline で、予防はベクターのノミの駆除と保有動物への対策となる。
リケッチア _R. typhi_ antigens はしばしば他のリケッチア抗原との交叉反応 cross-react serologically with other rickettsial antigens がみられる(1)。1回の抗体価上昇 A single elevated IgG titer of 1:128 or higher がみられれば感染が示唆される supportive evidence of a rickettsial infection; a 4-fold or greater rise in IgG titers in paired acute/convalescent samples is required to confirm a recent infection（4倍以上の上昇があれば最近の感染が確定される）(2) 。
ドキシサイクリン開始前に採取された検体の PCR が、確定診断 a definitive differentiation of these related rickettsial species that are cross-reactive serologically として用いられている(3)。
_R. prowazekii_ を原因とする epidemic typhus はノミ媒介性の発疹チフス flea-borne murine typhus とは異なり、生命の危険のある重症急性発熱疾患となる。低中所得国においてアウトブレイク Outbreaks of epidemic typhus が発生し、人体に付着する the human body louse, _Pediculis humanus_ がヒト－ヒト感染に関与する。高所得国において Epidemic typhus はまれだが、米国では東半分の地域全体から as far west as the Great Plains に及ぶ地域にみられる the southern flying squirrel, _Glaucomys volans_ がこれを保有する。

Delaware Agriculture Department Issues Warning on Contagious Poultry Diseases
The Delaware Department of Agriculture (DDA) has issued an urgent warning to backyard flock owners. This follows reports of sick poultry sold by an individual in Hartly, Delaware, through various online marketplaces and local venues over the past 45 days.
The DDA's Poultry and Animal Health Section conducted tests on birds from the suspect premises after receiving complaints from several buyers who had purchased ill birds. The tests confirmed multiple highly contagious viral and bacterial diseases, which once present, persist for the life of the birds. The identified diseases include:
