Increasing measles cases in metro area highlight need for vaccination

コレラ Cholera は，コレラ菌を嚥下する ingestion of the bacterium _Vibrio cholerae_ ことによる急性細菌性腸管感染症 an acute bacterial gastrointestinal infection で，多くの場合，汚染のある食品や水の摂取による。
インド洋にあるフランス海外領のメイヨット the French overseas region and department of Mayotte (人口約 32万1 000)， an archipelago in the Indian Ocean, between Madagascar and the coast of Mozambique で発生したコレラアウトブレイクと対策 a cholera outbreak and control measures taken について報告する。
Outbreak description
2024年2月，コモロ Comoros でアウトブレイク a cholera epidemic が宣言され，メイヨットに近い Anjouan, the island closest to Mayotte で最も多くの感染が報告された。最後の感染例が報告された７月27日までに合計1万193 cases with a fatality ratio of 1.5% が報告された。
2024年3月18日，メイヨット病院の検査室 the clinical laboratory at Mayotte hospital (CHM) で初めてのコモロからの輸入コレラ感染例 the 1st cholera case imported from Comoros が確認され，4月22日には初の地域内感染例 the first locally-acquired case of cholera が検査で確定診断された。その後すぐ，クラスター local transmission and several cholera outbreak clusters が発生し，最後の感染例 The last reported case in Mayotte は 12 Jul 2024 に確認されている。
During the epidemic period の期間中に，214 例 and 7 probable cholera cases, including 22 imported cases が報告された。
年齢の中央値は19歳（8-33歳）で，14例（6%）が集中治療室に収容された。7例（3%）が入院することなく死亡した。
1例目の地域内感染例が確認されたのは the Kirsoni neighbourhood of Koungou, located in the north-eastern part of the island で，Kirsoni は an informal settlement であり，ほとんどがコモロ出身者である。

メイヨットの患者から分離された菌はすべて All isolates in Mayotte，_V. cholerae_ O1 Ogawa El Tor of the 7th pandemic lineage (7PET) carrying an extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (PER-7) と確認され，抗生物質 azithromycin and ciprofloxacin に耐性を示したが，ドキシサイクリンに感受性 sensitive to doxycycline が示された。

2024年1月1日現在，住民の平均年齢 the mean age of Mayotte's population of 321 000 persons は 23歳で，人口増加率 an average annual population growth of 3.8% である。高出生率 A high birth rate と移住 immigration が人口増加の要因で，The migration flow comes mainly from Comoros（コモロからの移民が中心）。
Conclusion
Our findings should contribute to the ongoing discourse on effective strategies for mitigating and controlling the current global cholera resurgence.

"The recovery of _B. cereus_ from the penile infection in our patient reveals the first case of such unusual infection," the case report read.
His wife said she was symptom-free.
